Data, Practices, and Policies: Setting a Clear Institutional Agenda to Support and Engage Men of Color in the CSU

The CSU Student Success Network is excited to partner with the USC Pullias Center for Higher Education for our second workshop focused on creating a racially equitable campus ecosystem to engage and support men of color in the CSU system. During the workshop, campus teams will come together to explore research-based actions that support men of color and create data-driven action plans to improve services and support for men of color on their campuses. For this session, men of color include students who are from the following ethnic and racial groups: African Americans, Latinx, Native Americans, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
This workshop builds on the December session where Dr. Adrian Huerta and his team at USC shared findings from their statewide study that examined men of color programs and analyzed the functionality, effectiveness, and areas of growth for these programs.
Who can attend?
We invite one cross-role team of 6-8 individuals from each campus to attend. Participants can be involved in, or planning to be involved in, programs or services directly supporting men of color on their campus, or campus-based policies that may impact student persistence and retention. Teams can include faculty, staff, institutional research/effectiveness staff, department chairs, deans, and students, depending on your needs and plans. The workshop will include a focus on data collection and understanding program and institutional effectiveness; therefore we encourage including institutional research/effectiveness staff as part of the team.
